Found this on Abcnews UK Tower Accused of Melting Car to Get SunshadeA London skyscraper that drew ire for having a glare so strong it melted nearby cars and shops will get a permanent fix. The offending tower — known as the Walkie-Talkie for its curved, bulging shape — is to have a sunshade attached to its south-facing facade to stop the concave surface from reflecting sunlight and beaming concentrated rays to a nearby street, developers said Thursday. The 37-story building made headlines in September when a Jaguar owner who parked his car at its foot complained that the solar glare melted part of the vehicle. Local shopkeepers also said the beams — dubbed "death rays" by the British press — blistered paintwork and burnt a hole in a floor mat during the hottest parts of the day. Developers Land Securities and Canary Wharf had put up a dark netted screen as a temporary measure. They now say they have received permission to erect a permanent sunshade of horizontal aluminum fins, which they say will solve the problem by absorbing and diffusing sunlight. The sunshade will cover much of the Walkie-Talkie's southern face, and will inevitably block the Thames views for the tower's occupants "to a limited extent," the developers said. But they added that "the extra texture, detail and reduction in reflectivity will make the building a better neighbor." It wasn't the first time that the skyscraper, designed by architect Rafael Vinoly and officially known as 20 Fenchurch Street, attracted controversy. Even before it was built, UNESCO, the United Nations heritage body, complained that tall buildings like it would negatively impact the historic Tower of London nearby. Also here is a computer generated image of what it's suppose to look like

This was reported on my local news:A brave feline has proven that cats can be just as loyal as man's best friend, by saving its young owner from a dog attack on a California street on Tuesday. In the footage entitled My cat saved my son, which appears to have been shot by a CCTV camera, a young boy is seen riding his bike on a driveway next to a parked car. A shot taken from a different angle then shows a sandy-coloured dog trot into view on the opposite side of the stationary vehicle, and run up to the child. Suddenly, the animal viciously bites into the boy’s leg and drags him from his bike onto the tarmac. Within seconds, the boy’s cat hurtles towards the dog and chases it away, while the boy’s mother tends to her son. Having dealt with the dog, the cat returns to the boy, and the family flees the scene. Video: Cats are awesome

Look out, it's Godzilla! A Bay Area prankster hacked a mobile road sign to warn motorists of an imminent Godzilla attack. According to CBS San Francisco, a sign reading "Godzilla Attack - Turn Back" was spotted on Van Ness Avenue on Wednesday night. It's since been restored to display its intended message -- warning drivers of potential traffic delays during Sunday's Bay to Breakers foot race. Hacker having fun w/default passcodes. Van Ness sign changed to "Turn Back. Godzilla Attack" t.co/7K9ESqQ4Rc pic.twitter.com/mra91k4Owg — Kashmir Hill (@kashhill) May 16, 2014 In the latest Godzilla movie, which comes out Friday, the reptilian behemoth makes a huge mess of San Francisco. Some Twitter users speculated that the prank was a promotional stunt for the movie. The U.S. Air Force believes it could stop an assault by Godzilla. However, government agencies have proven incapable of preventing tampering with road signs. In the past, people have hacked them to warn drivers of zombies and various other made-up hazards. Earlier this week, a road sign in New Jersey was altered to read "Assville next left," referring to the Jersey Shore.

My friends and myself (there was 10 of us) went to one of the local sports eatery clubs here in Ontario...(it's name was actually Moose Wahnooskis' no joke). It had a "family restaurant" area decorated much like a steakhouse and then there was the "sports bar" area that had a circular bar adorned with T.V monitors 360 degrees around the bar...we (the 10 of us) got a large table in the restaurant area to celebrate a friend's birthday...pitchers and pitchers of beer and mixed drinks later, we started to act a little less composed for a "family restaurant" area, and they soon asked us to leave the restaurant..(keep in mind, we are grown ladies) here's why we got the "boot"
A friend at the table made a comment that was so STUPID and asinine that I proceded to make the sound that kids make to show that someone is "retarded" And I started pounding my hand on my chest...this ruse caught on to four of the other ladie at the table and we made this ridiculous sound and awkward motion for about 30 seconds. At about 31 seconds in, I get a sharp kick to the leg from my bestie who is across from me. I turn my attention quickly to her to see that she is subtly motioning for me to turn around.. So I turn in my seat to look at the table behind us and I'm stunned with shock and total embarrassment....the table behind us was a larger party than ours by about 10 people, more than half of them were teenagers with downs syndrome ..the parents and care givers were giving our table looks that might have actually killed had it not been for the manager who happen to catch the tail end of it....I wanted to die..I felt like I was four inches tall...so theres my funny/awkward/embarrassing story..
