I had refused to force close / visit app store / nothing like that. I hit 4 additional toys this morning at 5:30am CST (pulling me up to 16) - then got Rupert in the box. When I force closed after to see if Comic Con began, the toys were still good. I reset Peter, Bruce, Quagmire, Chris to get 4 more and potentially reset 1 last time to hit 24 toys, but when I decided to check the app store saw it was downloading. So then I loaded up the new game and toys were gone, but the event didn't start. Another 30 minutes later decided to log in again and I got the prompt to restart, and begin the Comic Con event.
I immediately checked the 4 characters and toys were no longer going to produce. I noticed for Peter and Chris and Quagmire - the new event currency was added, but Bruce was safe I think.
Lois/Brian were also safe and that's all I really checked.
