As of the latest update(bugfix), completed character tasks now also give exp towards your overall town level.
Maybe TinyCo is planning to do something useful with the overall level?

Didn't notice that. I guess I don't pay much attention since it's pretty pointless at the moment. It would be nice if it had a purpose. Some free clams would be cool.

I could be mistaken but I'm sure they always have done since the beta, as I'm sure I've leveled up my town and seen the bar go up after a character has completed tasks I've put them on before. |

I could be mistaken but I'm sure they always have done since the beta, as I'm sure I've leveled up my town and seen the bar go up after a character has completed tasks I've put them on before. Actually not, the only XP that applied to the town level was collection from buildings. I hit 40 just fine collecting this way. The XP from tasks only affected character levels. |
