I currently play this game on an iphone but plan on buying an android in a few weeks, will the game switch over or will I have to start over. I have held back on spending money on the game for this reason, which has left me unable to finish this event. Sitting at ~20k there is no way to get to 100k unless I drop way too much money.

Your town is saved to a server at tiny co not your phone. So as long as you've created an account through email or Facebook you can log into your town from any device.
