Since we are all on different parts of the game I was wondering what is your strategy when it comes to making purchases.
Mine goes something like this
Characters: Whenever a new district is unlocked I will purchase the character with the shortest build time first if available right away otherwise I'll go for the one the quest tells me to first.
Buildings/Decor: The building that needs to be repaired is always first then I'll purchase the ones that were added with the district and the the generic ones. Right now I'm only purchasing the decorations required once I have all land I'll probably buy more.
Land: First is the current district once it's fully cleared I move on to whatever is left. I always try to purchase as much I can at once(4 unless busy with buildings) and make sure I have at least 10k more than required.

Almost the same as you. I like to decorate unlocked areas before going back to unlocking the land at the left of the map. Means quahog always looks finished rather than under construction all the time.

I play it by ear. The first few districts I had followed the quest line (also never noticed that the other character was instantly available). But with the last 3 districts - I buy the cheaper one first when possible, and I also try to get the land unlocked for the new building. After the land I go for the repair - then remaining pieces of land in the new district.
I buy the buildings if they help generate an item I need (so the Arcade was first). I then bought the other 2 buildings. I did the 3 buildings prior to the land pieces, thinking they would pop up in the quest line at some point.
Since I was saving the for final piece of land prior to the update, I had purchased Connie's building instantly, and used the rest to unlock the land piece. While working on Connie, I repaired the building, then saved for other new buildings (definitely wanted that Arcade).
Now I'm just buying the land since my story lines will be stalled. I am hoping to wrap up by Saturday, since I will have a week away from the game while on vacation. Outlook looks not so good after 1 week of not having a single headband nor eyeball.

Pretty much the same as you as well Cleve....except I work the item drops like crazy..if there are any items from characters or stores to be dropped, that's what I focus on. 100%, everything else is secondary until I have those items...I'll even set the alarm on my phone to let me know when someone has completed a task that MAY drop something...Lois for example, her two hour task to get headbands...I literally checked EVERY two hrs on the dot until I had them all. No clams spent this time around, and I still ripped through it....grrrr..I tried to slow down on this update.

I tend to follow the quests, I just unlocked the police area(well a few days, maybe a week) so I finished the building first. If I end up with multiple quests to build I go with the cheapest or character, so hospital was cheapest bought that, but then it was between the library and the fire station, one with a character one without. Went with the library since I'll probably have the fire station built by the time I get Brian all those books he needs, if lady luck is on my side I might get it done in 3 days, but more likely closer to 5.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation Carter if you somehow don't get them before maybe after your vacation you will Thanks! Nothing like a beach and all inclusive resort . I hope so, I also don't want to miss the Cleveland event. But that sounds like it will be a major event like TSTO has. I also would prefer to have everything set, but I will see. So far still 0 eyeballs and headbands today. I had one of those coincidences last time I posted about headbands and knocked them out, so that's why I'm updating to see if I can get them to start dropping.

This seems like a brilliant idea for a post on the blog to help out players and newbies so they have an idea what to buy
