What you are experiencing is not a glitch or accident.
TinyCo actually released an update for the very thing you posted about, allowing players who have access to both devices to load their game with an apple product then go back to android and have the event on android with no repercussions ..meaning once the event launches worldwide for android, you will NOT have to start over again.
