Forum etiquette means maintaining a standard of posting behaviour that is acceptable and appropriate. Some lines must be drawn for the safety of all posting on the forum. In most cases, following these guidelines will keep you out of trouble during your stay here at FGM
Posting etiquette
• Keep thread titles direct, descriptive and accurate.
• Be respectful to new members asking questions - we were all new at one time.
• When asking a question, try to provide as much information as possible.
• Do not create multiple threads for one topic or post your thread in more than one category. Posting the same thing over and over again is called scrolling, and will not be tolerated.
• Use caps and repeated punctuation wisely. THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT!
• Keep signatures images to a maximum size of 500 wide x 110 high.
• Use bbcode to clean up extremely long signature links by displaying link text rather than URLs.
• Bump threads judiciously. If a thread has no new posts since the last bump, please don't bump it again.
• Make sure you're understood, even by non-native English speakers. Try to write full sentences, and avoid text-message abbreviations or slang.
• Do not make posts requesting the locking of another user's thread within a thread. Please use the PM system to contact a moderator if you Believe a thread or post is in violation of the forum rules. Moderators on-line will be shown on the forum home page, under Currently Active Users At the bottom of the page. Alternatively, you can use the 'report post' feature to inform mods and admin by clicking on the Report Post found in the top right hand corner of each post.
• Please use the search facility! Avoid posting duplicate threads about questions that have already been answered.
Behaviour – Help keep the forums a pleasant place to use
• Remember the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated.
• Keep posts relevant to the topic being discussed in each thread.
• No personal attacks: don't flame, troll, insult, harass, threaten, rant, etc.
• Be respectful when posting about religious, political, or otherwise controversial content.
• Keep posts clean: free of vulgarity, racism, profanity, and bigotry.
• Work out any differences politely.
• Do not impersonate others.
• Do not post personal information about other members.
• Do not publicise private conversations between yourself and other members.
• Do not send repeated PMs or encourage other players to PM bomb any forum member.
• No advertising/spamming.
• Have a sense of humour!
Behaving as a reasonable adult, even in the face of being flamed, is usually the best course of action. If a poster becomes harassing, obscene or personal, do not retaliate. You can use the 'Block Member' facility and/or use the 'report post' button to inform a moderator or forum administrator.
