If you are a freemium player or just don't want to spend clams on the premium items that drop idols then here's a good way to collect them. This method is how I'm doing this event although I may spend clams but you can follow this method as well if you want to:
Spending Idols
1. Repair the Museum
2. Unlock Adventure Peter
3. Unlock Cleveland
4. Prizes
Collecting Idols
Mermaid Peter
Adventure Peter
S&M Lois
Goth Chris
These outfits all collect 2x idols and are a good way to collect idols without spending real money and clams.

Too late I wussed out a ponied up some clams already. Although I've seen some with 4 or 5 large butt statues at 400 clams a pop... Ouch

Ugh, I feel like I am going to need to buy a few of the premium items to produce the currency, but I am not too keen on the prizes. I don't see long term how they will fit into any Quahog city. I have only sprung for Consuela and the golden pool, have about 550 clams, so we will see...

I'm thinking of buying a couple of the stands, but I can't quite figure out how I'd go about incorporating the butt shrines into my town. I thought for sure the pyramid would be in the upper right corner, so now I either have to move my houses and rearrange everything or find a place away from the pyramid to put all the event stuff.

Cleveland needs loads of stuff, and I only have 1 character so far that earns 2x. I am not spending clams at all. Hopefully I can some decent prizes. Only got the 1st one so far.
