When the task was added, I did it twice as well, I haven't done it since as it never checked off. Quite annoying, wish to see it fixed soon.

There was a thread on this, Tinyco stated that Felicia must first be unlocked before this quest will be completed. So if you complete it prior, it won't count until she is fully unlocked in your town.

Well not mine, but I found this in the bugs & issues section: I found this overt at familyguyaddict.com Phase 3 Glitch Report: Hams, Tasks, Lois and more! Now let’s talk about a task for Lois. In the Redheaded Rivalry Pt. 2 questline you’re asked to make Lois write passive aggressive emails. It’s a 6hr task that shows up in Lois’ task bar immediately. HOWEVER…many of you are reporting it not clearing after you’ve completed the task. So here’s the deal…this task is tied to unlocking Felicia Day. So you’ll need to unlock Felicia and then do the 6hr task in order for it to count towards the goal objective. TinyCo has also responded to this in their in-game FAQ’s: So if this is happening to you and you have not unlocked Felicia…do not send an in-game message to TinyCo. Send Lois on another (more beneficial) task until you’ve unlocked Felicia (I usually have her on the 10hr task with Jerome…best Blam! pay out for both characters).

For those of you that don't have Felicia, here's a pro tip:
If you send Felicia on her 4 or 12 hour task when you start Lois on this task, you will save some time on the next quest line. The next quest is to have Felicia do her 12 hour AND 4 hour task, so you can get the ball rolling after you unlock Felicia. Either that if you know when you'll have her unlocked you can start Lois sooner.
If you do Felicia's 4 hour task - don't clear until after you clear Lois.

It would have been nice for them to put the Lois part as a separate part of the quest line since I don't think I've had to have any other character unlocked to do the other part of that particular quest.

No problem, apparently they put it in their FAQ. Yeah, there hasn't been an instance where you couldn't start the "other half" of a dual quest.

She just finished the task again and now it's checked off. It's either that or 3rd time's the charm.
